Project Overview
Our work at the Lukala Pit involves the loading, hauling, and disposal of overburden material, along with the excavation and transportation of limestone. These operations are critical to maintaining uninterrupted cement production for Heidelberg Cement. The project covers various tasks, from ensuring access for trucks to managing waste material dumping.
Key Equipment and Activities
- Excavator CAT 329: This machine is instrumental in the loading of overburden material at the Lukala Pit. Its precision and power ensure efficient excavation, moving large volumes of material to prepare the pit for further limestone extraction.
- CAT 950H Wheel Loader: The wheel loader is deployed to maintain and fix access routes for trucks transporting overburden material. Its work ensures smooth and safe hauling operations, particularly in challenging areas like the Belvedere section of the pit.
- CAT 730 Articulated Dump Trucks: These trucks handle the transportation of overburden material to designated waste dump areas. Their versatility and capacity make them ideal for managing the substantial volume of material removed from the pit.
- Site Overview: IOB machines, including excavators, loaders, and dump trucks, work in unison to perform load and haul operations of limestone material. This top-down view of the site highlights the synchronized activities that keep the project running smoothly.
